Finally, it’s here!
The official announcement from miHoYo confirms that the HarmonyOS version of “Genshin Impact” will commence recruitment testing at 12:00 today. This version is exclusively for travelers who support HarmonyOS devices. The primary purpose of this recruitment test is to ensure that future versions of “Genshin Impact” will seamlessly integrate with the HarmonyOS system. Ever since the HarmonyOS ecosystem was launched, many game enthusiasts have eagerly awaited a HarmonyOS version of “Genshin Impact.” Given that popular games like Tencent’s “War3ome” and “Peace Elite” have already been released on HarmonyOS, if “Genshin Impact” also adapts, it would be a significant benefit, akin to a bonus.

However, it is noteworthy that the version currently undergoing recruitment testing still has many aspects in the adjustment phase. Thus, future adjustments may be based on player feedback to gradually perfect it. Additionally, players participating in the test need to sign a confidentiality agreement. On one hand, it is to protect their experience in the official server; on the other hand, it aims to prevent any potential misunderstandings if the information were to leak out.
So, what devices are being recruited for this test? Let’s take a look. According to the official announcement from miyu, currently supported direct devices include the Huawei Pura 80 series, nova 14 series, and Huawei Mate 70 series. Foldable devices are also supported, including the Huawei Mate X6. The recruitment period is from June 27th at 12:00 to July 4th at 14:00. Interested players can fill out the questionnaire to apply for testing eligibility.

As a 3D mobile game with high performance requirements, “Genshin Impact” is often used as a benchmark to test the performance of flagship smartphones. The launch of the HarmonyOS version test is not only an enhancement in performance, ecosystem compatibility, and user rights, but also a significant step forward in technological innovation.
Firstly, the performance has been deeply optimized. Native HarmonyOS applications can reduce system overhead, improve frame rate stability, and, on high-end devices, may support 120FPS high frame rates. The battery life benefits from CPU/GPU-specific optimizations, leading to improved heat dissipation.
Secondly, the ecosystem has been adapted. In May, Huawei released HarmonyOS 5, which has updated over 40 versions and added over 100 system-level features, with new applications being released daily. If “Genshin Impact” adapts successfully, leveraging HarmonyOS’s “multi-device collaboration” feature, seamless switching between games on smartphones, tablets, and computers may no longer be a dream. Additionally, the smart screen can be used for multiplayer, offering a comfortable gaming experience on a large screen.
Finally, the strategic significance of the HarmonyOS ecosystem. The adaptation of top games validates the HarmonyOS’s ability to handle large 3D games, which should attract more manufacturers to follow, accelerating the “de-Androidization” process. Additionally, Huawei plans to complete the original native adaptation of the top 500 applications by 2027. If “Genshin Impact” is successful, it will directly meet the core needs of the gaming user base.
As such, with “Genshin Impact” already adapting, when will we see “Golden Pickaxe,” “League of Legends,” or “QQ Racing” among other large mobile games on the HarmonyOS next system? My colleague Xiao Lei, who has a Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, is already eager to experience the adaptation of these large mobile games.
In summary, although the performance is still in the adjustment phase, the gaming ecosystem of HarmonyOS will continue to grow over time. It is believed that in the future, playing games with “interconnectivity of all things” might not be impossible. If the optimization effects are significant, HarmonyOS could potentially become the third major gaming platform, alongside iOS and Android.
